You know that's the first time I've actually seen the carbine pouches holding M1
clips. You can tell immediately. I tried it and it didn't work well, so I thought it might just be a fairy tale.

I believe the early carbine pouches were not cut for Garand
clips . The later ones were . I believe there is also a carbine pouch made with a partial stich across it near the bottom. The carbine clip rests on the stiches , a M1911 clip fits between the stiches and rest on the pouch's bottom.

I believe those combination 1911/carbine mag pouches were U.S.
M.C.
