Went to a firearm auction yesterday, when lo and behold this little Persian carbine popped up.
Had a very small amount of time to hold it and look it over before it hit the block.
Normally I wouldn't mess with anything sporterized, but these are hard to find in any condition.
$150 later its mine. I rush home to check out the newest gem.
As it is sitting in a CzechM30 stock, I thought naturally it was indeed an M30. However, upon closer inspection, it is in fact a Persian M49 (the Farsi 1328 date and the slightly crude 'cowardly lion' gives it away)
It has a matching to itself Germankar98az bolt.
Magazine and triggerguard assembly appears to be Czech. The follower spring has an interesting repair to it.
The cut to the wood looks as though it was done quite a long time ago.
I may try to find a beater VZ24 stock and try to graft a front end to it.
No import mark.
