A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. You might try Sarco or Numrich. Original No.4 magazines have become scarce on the ground. I still have plenty of SMLE mags but no No.4 available.

Be cautious of being sold a SMLE mag that has been converted to fit a No4 rifle. It is possible to do but I don't know how successfully they function.

I have one of the WW2 SMLE converted to No4 mags, I bought it at the Birmingham international some years back and it was hiding at the bottom of a box covered in cosmoline icon

among a number of standard No4 mags.

I just assumed it was a standard SMLE mag until I saw half the spine was removed as I cleaned it up.

It works just fine in my No4 and sits in my range bag as an interesting back up magazine.
