a WWI era Remington-made-for-Russia M1891 that was captured by the Finns in the Winter or Continuation War.
because it's a Finn capture, it's a mix master. Finnish
stock and replacement parts all over. not a bad price.

Happen to really enjoy this rifle, the bolt is "smooth" for a Mosin Nagant, and despite the length, its no bother (being 6'4" its my size!). Accuracy wise it makes me happy too, shooting cans at 100 (sometimes) and ringing the gong at 200, but I haven't taken it out for an actual grouping. Had to throw a new striker spring in too as it just wasn't cutting it with surplus ammo. All in all, it may have been a dangerous foray into yet another type of milsurp, I never used to care for Russian
/Soviet guns!
Oh, and thanks for the replies!

Great rifle at a good price. The Finns re-barreled most rifles so it is interesting that yours still has a Remington barrel.Where did you find this if I may ask?

This rifle is one of several fine pick ups from CX shooter supplies in Morinville, Ab. Fantastic little shop, I try to make it in as often as possible, Shane moves some really nice stuff.

The Finns would not have re barreled this. That is the original barrel.
They used new barrels for the: M27, M28, M39, late war M91's.
They would not (except in very rare cases) remove older barrels and reuse them.
This guy got stripped down to the barreled receiver and all parts were tossed in the various bins for cleaning and inspection. Then he was rebuilt for immediate use by reassembling from the misc. parts in the bins. The Finns didn't care about foreign armory markings, just functional weapons.

Hello there:
I bought a M1891 that was a Fin capture with a 1941 Tikka barrel on it. Receiver is dated 1896. So they must have re-barreled some. But why keep them as a M91? Why not up date the rifle?

I always loved the WW1 era MNs, especially the Remingtons! No matter to me that most are mixmasters because of the history that goes with them.
