Purchased a Remington trigger guard

Hey guys, I purchased a 1942 Remington 1903a3 receiver. I'm trying to build this gun back to period correct form (not for any collector value as the receiver is a drill receiver, just pure sentimental FUN!). I also just purchased a Remington trigger guard. I heard from someone that the circle R stamp is always on the left side of the rear of the magazine box. Is this correct, I wonder because my circle R stamp is on the right rear of the box. I've heard there are a bunch of Chinese knock offs out there. Pardon my naievette as far as this gun is concerned, I am learning all I can.

Is the serial number about 3,380,000 or less? If not it's a 1943 or later. There are a couple of inaccurate sources on the Internet that list ALL Remington M1903A3s as "1942" and Rem. 1903s as "1941", when just a small fraction were manufactured those years.

The one you pictured in the other thread dates to July or August, 1943.

I was just going off what oldguns.net says for serial numbers and date. It said, "The year of manufacture for serial number 3839646 is 1942.

Remington 1903A3 production started in 1942 at number 3348086."

Is there a more reliable way to look up serial number? This is a drill rifle receiver.

The trigger guard in your picture is a genuine Remington.

If that R is on the wrong side, I have a lot of Chinese knock-offs. As a note, the way to tell the reproduction ones is the stiffener indents up the sides don't go all the way to the top and aren't marked with anything.

your guard is original, but pretty beat, may give you some feeding issues
