One of my favorite 1903 rifles
One of my favorite 1903 rifles with a CCV cartouche which is not that common on a stock without stock bolts. Barrel is dated SA 2-07 with a very nice bore, I believe this rifle is still in original condition without any rebuilds

Nice rifle - my friend just got #160864, also appearing to be not rebuilt since the rechambering to 30-06. His has a SA 05 barrel.

Love the older ones, the scrollwork numbers look like art. I always liked the well worn look of a patina'd veteran.

The Rock Island s/n 64145 has a RIA 3-07 dated barrel and would appear original while the four digits all rebuilds with early mixed parts and early barrels. The four digits are really not worth much but interesting to collect

The earliest I have is a RIA 16093 and a Springfield 78180. Both are original to the changeover to 30-06.

My all original #87241 / bbl date 6-07 came off the assembly line a few months after yours. These early un-modified/upgraded 03's are not that common. I also have one four digit 4664, bbl date 12-06 that was built up at the arsenal from a 30-03.
From the C.S. Ferris & J. Beard
, book, pg 25. The mfg dates of the RIA's made in 1907. Not sure if there were any made in 1906 were the serial numbers match the dates. Ray

Ray, My SA s/n 4918 had a SA 05 A barrel on it when received from the CMP. The bore was gone, could not salvage it and replaced it with a SA 1918 barrel. If I find another SA 05
barrel I will install it on 4918. I also used the POD rebuild stock that came from Rick the Librarian. Do you have a photo of your 4664 ? Robert
