Polish Mauser
Hoping to soon have in my hands a Polish Mauser. It's a scrubbed Spanish sale by all appearances and is missing the sling and cleaning rod. Any thoughts on what type would best go with it?
VZ24 cleaning rod is one that seemed to be mentioned as fitting. I guess a Polish sling is completely out of the question, what would be a close second?

Is it a k 98 AZ? I think I used a GEW
98 sling.

Polish Mauser
Put a 12.5" k98k repo rod in mine. Vz24 rod will be too long. I'm using a Yugoslav sling simply because I'm cheap

Picked up the rifle this morning. 12.5 inch K98
rod fits perfectly. VZ24 is too thick to even go in the hole. I did some more looking and found one photo with a sling that is similar to a Swede and I have an extra one of them lying around so until I find something better, it looks good. Rifle is in decent condition, some very minor pitting and thinning finish on exposed areas, strong finish, no pitting under the wood, possibly. Bore is decent, a bit dark but strong rifling. Bolt is probably a GEW 98 bolt, straight, non-matching. As they used German parts on these not unusual. Scrubbed receiver except for "z" markings and lined out serial number. Wood is solid, no cracks, no major dings. I'll do my best to get some photos up in a few days.

The straight bolt is actually correct. The Poles used the same stock for both the infantry and calvary (bent bolt) models. The straight bolt handle is more common. If Polish it should have a circle Z - kinda of like the Brno circle z.

Bolt is definitely German
. Doesn't appear to have any polish markings on it. Lots of imperial stamps. I read that they were left with an abundance of German rifle parts and they used them to assemble the first Wz29's, many of which wound up in Spain. Then the Spanish probably mixed them up because they supposedly didn't store the bolts with the rifles. At least that's what I've read.
