The BSA T is listed as a Mk1* (not Mk1) which surely is a typo, unless im missing something altogether???

It could be a typo, but it is likely simply a misreading of the marking.
Many British
No4 rifles are found marked as No4MkI" and some (mostly Maltby's IIRC) are marked as No4MkI* rifles.
I have a (and have seen several others) BSA No4T (1944 or 1945) designation marked as a ' No4MkI" ' .
So far as I am aware, no one has (ever) explained what changes the markings signify on a British manufactured rifle.
A British rifle marked as a No4MkI* is not a rifle with the bolt release simplification adopted by Long Branch and Savage.

Did a fair bit of drooling myself, but like you I reckon 17k is a lot of bickies to part with and the better half would hit the roof. Still a man's allowed to dream......................

Approx auction prices (OZ dollars) including the 15% buyers premium
- BSA No4T = $8912
- L42A1 = $14950
Perhaps some of the more "well heeled" members of the forum may eventually step forward and give us a pictorial of their latest acquisition/s
