Got an RPD (DSA semi auto) the other day, just needed another belt feed for the collection. Loading the belts ruins fingers quickly, so I cobbled together a loader that makes the process a bit easier. I made it from scraps of wood around my shop and a cheap hinge. So far it works as I hoped, loading 3 rounds into the belt at a press. Could probably do 5 rds at a time but have not tried it yet. While I know this board is 99% serious collectors and 1% collectors for fun, I offer to post pictures and maybe a pdf of the plan if anyone in the 1% wants it. Not something for those who have full auto, but for semi will work fine.
Will post a review of the gun when I get some range time with it. Also building a transit chest that would have been appropriate for the time of the introduction of the RPD. Made from ply and 1X2 with few frills but durable enough for the commissar in any case. According to many sources it was introduced and used in the closing of WWII. I will have to review all those documentary films to see if I can spot one.Information
