I have Springfield serial number 1373022 with a star mark on the muzzle too, my barrel is dated S A 7-29. After you remove the handguard, there should be a star gage card number in front of
the rear sight base stamped on the barrel, mine is l over 554 and my barrel heat lot number is C 128. John Beard
who is a noted 1903 expert and author, told me that my rifle was a 1931 National
Match rifle but never sold out of service, therefore there are not any records of sale.
Also of interest, I have another Springfield 1903 serial number 1321534 with a S A 7-29 dated barrel but without any Nation Match markings

It is in a "nest" of NM rifles and your rifle may have been not sold after National Matches - no match in sales records. Pictures would help.

I'll try to get around to it over the next week or so.

No match - there are few SRS records in that serial range.
