It's always a crap shoot buying the Mk.7 cordite loaded ammo. If it's seen horrible temperature extremes combined with age, the primers can and will hang fire giving the "flintlock effect" as mentioned by Cinders. I actually lucked into a few good boxes of POFicon that was fine in the past. I had a little test here a few years ago at 25 yards using a control No.4 and 1' paster looking for point of impact and consistency of several different lots of Mk.7 including Britishicon, Canadianicon, Iraqi and Pakistani. The results were impressive with tight three shot groups and the exact same point of impact. A great testament to the pre computerized, standardized method of manufacture by all of the nations involved.

Lucky you Brian mine was '67 and Fred Flintstone in operation, I did however score the wooden transit case and metal cartridge liner as recompense for crud ammo (no I knew the gunsmith so he gave it to me when it was empty.) $15/38 rounds when I was using it, kept 1 empty packet for posterity.
