Introducing the Krag I am proud to own...with extras
Hello, new friends, This is only my third post here, but I am no noob when it comes to forums.
MILSURPS are my passion and i just wanted to show everyone the Krag
I am most proud of.
NO...it is not some rare expensive goodie.
It is only a shooter grade Bannerman conversion but it is super special to me.
I got it in Arizona from a guy who had it stored in his closet.
His dad said HIS DAD would saddle up with it and venture off to the mountains and come back with an elk every season.
he sold it because his two kids had no interest and I definitely did.
What makes it special to me is i can believe the story with the wear and tear and loving protection I can see.
It came with a saddle scabbard, and old box of ammo from the early 60's or late 50's, and it still had the original buttstock cleaning kit in the stock.
...and....it is " as smooth as a Krag".
Dave
PS...when is the last time you saw a yellow box of 30-40 Krag for $4.75 ?!?!? There are still 13 rounds in the box which means 7 were used. I think this lends some credence to the story.

Looks a dandy to me! The Krag
is one milsurp that doesn't look "wrong" cut down. Perhaps it's their relatively short military history compared to the rich and DECADES long history of putting meat on the table. These cut down jobs just have the feel of an old friend.
And the ol' 30-40 isn't anything to sneeze at...as I'm sure at least 7 elk would attest

Yep, sounds plausible to me too. Cut down rifle as so many were without shame. Wiping rod and oiler present...expect the barrel is about perfect as that was the ones they liked to cut down for hunting rifles.
