Type 99 Dust Covers
Curious about the type 99 dust covers. I have seen them manufactured with and without an "L" shaped tab inside and behind the bolt cutout. What is the reason for the change and were the tabs used on earlier models or manufacturer specific?
Thanks

That's a great question. I purchased one with a tab and it wouldn't work on my 1941 Type 99. Purchased one without a tab and it fit perfectly. Are the tabbed ones for the Type 38?

That's what I'm thinking. Want to make sure before I buy one though. I want one for a Nagoya long rifle.

The non-tabbed dust cover fit my Type 99 so I would go with that one.

Made my whole day! I thought I had a defective one. Just installed it on my new Type 38 and it fit perfectly.

Been a while since I messed with them but I remember they were on interchangeable and the ebay sellers didn't seem to know the difference. I have a real Type 38 dust cover on my 38 although it doesn't match. I have one repro on one of my 99's.
