P14 thread size
Can anyone tell me the pitch or thread size of the screw that holds the rear sight spring on a Remington P14, the one under the rear ladder sight?

Thanks, I have that information already but what I can't find is a standard thread, its not BA or BSF.....surely they wouldn't use some obscure thread pitch.....how do I get a screw to replace it??

Numrich has them for $2.75. Go to gunpartscorp.com look up Enfield in manufacturers then P14, there's a parts schematic it's part number 37 on page 3.

They did indeed use the gunmakers specials - probably one of the reasons why it took so long to get production up and running.

Well, that's just one facet of understanding Enfields. Some words that you immediately lose from your vocabulary are: "always" and "never"

I have several of those rifles here - had the same question - a 4BA cap screws turned in snugly, with fingers, all the way through - at least it did on the two I tried. Nominal dimensions of 4BA is .142-ish x 38 1/2-ish tpi, I think, so not so different that my fingers could tell. No clue what the +/- tolerances for screws and taps were. Dimensions shown come from Wikipedia - they use more decimal places... Without digging further, I do believe there was an "Enfield" series of screws - unique dimensions and thread counts, perhaps originally for or from Enfield's armoury, which, of course, is where the P13/P14 machinery came from, before being relocated to USA
