1950 Long Branch No4 MkI* Lower Band Help

Ok everyone...I admit fault here. When reinstalling the lower band on my mint LB rifle, I stripped the threads on the lower band. I have been looking for the last year to find a NOS replacement with screw to no avail. One dealer in Canada stated he had one but could not find it. My rifle is a 1950 with a 94L prefix on the serial number. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

It shouldn't be that difficult to repair your existing band and if you can't do it your self you could ask someone with some metalworking skills.

There are several ways that you could tackle it but the simplest way may be to weld up the stripped tapped hole using tig weld, re-dril and re-tap the correct thread.

By lower band are you talking about the middle band on the hand guards?

If so shouldn't Numrich carry them?

By "mint" you mean has been FTR'd in the UK - where that British made band was presumably installed and the rest of the rifle painted black?

Mint means original finish...The rifle has never been through FTR.

Yes, the middle band where one attaches the sling. The Numrich ones are not marked like this original LB lower band.

Fill the stripped thread with silver solder and tap new threads. Could probably do it with propane, MAPP gas for sure. Best wishes.

FTR'd, anywhere, means it is very decidedly not "mint".
"...Mint means original finish..." No it doesn't. Mint means unfired and exactly as it came out of the factory. Highly unlikely to be any Brit parts in Canadian Arsenals - Long Branch.
"...not marked like this..." The chances of find one with that mark are slim to none.
Where you are matters. Epps' wants $22.99 for a No. 4 Rifle Middle Stock band.

I concur with Sunray's post if your that set on keeping the piece look towards getting it fixed otherwise just buy a NOS run of the mill mid band & screw no ones going to give much attention to it after what these things have been through who knows whats what with them.
