M1903A3 - Original Metal Finishes
Greetings! I was going through my box of spares the other day and ran across a bolt made by Remington stamped with an R in a circle on the extractor ring. (It didn't come with an extractor) Obtained this about 50 years ago from the DCM and just never had a use for it. The interesting thing about it is that it is blued and not Parkerized. It's never been in a rifle and is factory new. So... what parts should be blued on a Remington M1903A3? Regards, H.T.

I think Poyer indicates the barreled action with sight collar, butt plate, and front band were parkerized, and all other parts would have been blued. It's common to see arsenal rebuilds with most all parts parkerized. Your bolt sounds like new old stock.

Pretty much a given with how old it is. Nice find too.

the receiver, barrel, and safety lever were parkerized, the rest should be blued, until late production, then the bayonet lug could be parked
