What Spare Parts Should You Have ?

I just shared a list of what I thought a owner should have.
I'd like to read others thoughts to the scenario below:

You own 1 M1 Carbine you plan to shoot 3 - 4 times a month, say roughly 300 Rds a month.

What spare parts or tools would you suggest a owner should have on hand ?

I would get spare springs for everything, a spare extractor and a spare firing pin. I would also get a spare extractor plunger, not because they go bad, but because those little devils have a horrible habit of disappearing when disassembling and reassembling the bolt. Also get a bolt tool. If there is one essential tool for working on a carbine, that is it. It is worth its weight in gold and that is no joke.

Probably an over kill but I say:
Trigger spring tool, bolt tool, piston nut wrench, bifocals.
spare complete bolt
spare extractor w/plunger and spring
spare ejector w/spring
spare trigger spring.
more mags and ammo

The part that looks to take the most wear is the Firing pin. Look at the tip under a good loupe, some of them are a mess, chipped,dented, beat up. They were a troublesome part to make as well because of heat treatment issues.

The small springs: Small springs are fragile.
a good brand new GI slide spring.
Plungers for the above reasons.
Extractors break.
Sear/trigger spring because it is special.

Small springs can be made out of other springs, plungers could be hand made,

I didn't list my cheaters and wouldn't get anything done without mine.

Here's my list:

1- Extractor Plunger Tips
2- Extractor Springs
3- Extra Bolt Extractors
4- Ejectors springs and tips (late style best for Ejection pattern).
5- Extra Op Slide Spring (should measure 10 1/4" or tad longer)
6- Extra Mag Springs for 15 and 30
7- Extra Bolt that will head space.
8- Extra Bolt tool with extra bolt tool pawls. The Pawls are so easy to break. Best to have a
couple extra Pawls.
9- Extra Sear spring
10- Extra Safety to Mag catch spring and attached plungers
11- Extra Mag catch spring with attached plunger
12- Extra Frt sight Pin and Lead Key
13- 30 Rd Mag catch, if you decide or want to shoot 30 Rd mags
14- Extra Sear
15- Extra Hammer
16- Extra Firing Pin
17- Extra Op Slide
18- Extra Barrel band screw
19- Extra Barrel band spring
20- Trigger spring tool
21- Gas piston nut wrench
22- Extra trigger housing / Hammer / Trigger Pins
23- Head lamp
24- ECI Empty Chamber Flag
25- Good Books
26- Friends phone number to call for help

Speaking to the choir here but for someone just starting out the old adage of two is one and one is none applies. Important in many of life's activities. Just like the aforementioned bifocals.

I think Orion-7 sold a "parts kit" that should cover all the breakable stuff. Never heard of a hammer or sear going bad. Bolts yes, extractor, plunger (easy to loose), action spring (shrinks), other springs (ditto). I figure if I break something, I have other toys to play with until I can get parts. In a TEWAWKI, all bets are off, get an AR15 and plenty of freeze dried food.

It is something simple but very important at least for me, but a good L-shaped brush so you can clean your chamber really good with the L-shaped handle being very easy to control the brush for cleaning. As we all know, a lot of carbine problems are caused by a dirty chamber

Never heard of a hammer or sear going bad

Have seen the notch on a M2 hammer where the sear slides in worn out on a Carbine often used in Fully Auto mode.
But haven't or don't recall others going bad, except seeing some run away from worn sear tip.

I never thought about Replacement parts for M2. But I don't get to have that much fun...... often.
Hard enough to feed what I have now.
