Mark of Mystery #2
This interesting mark first showed up on a Mk IV oiler. Lacking any other information, we classified the mark/maker as an Unknown Soldier.

I was quite surprised when an Australian
correspondent reported that the same mark appeared on the underside of a barrel on a 1943 BSA SMLE Mk III*.

Any information you might have would be appreciated. Extra marks if you can point to a book, website or other documentary source of information.

It shows those items were owned by the Cookie Monster.
Ref: Sesame Street, season 5, episode 4.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...
