British Snipers Day out
A nice day out with some British
snipers in Wales yesterday.
Very impressed with the L42, was able to reliably hit a 16" gong at 850yds kneeling unsupported. Scope is the only thing holding it back.
The L115A3 made every target we shot (6" gong at 1040yds was the furthest that day) look easy.
L115A3
L129 Sharpshooters Rifle in rough Sniper support spec
L42A1 1971 Conversion
No4T Enfield Conversion (pre H&H)

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Looks like familiar WMS stamping ground to me!

do you mean 6" (six inches) at 1040 yards? Or 6' (six feet?)

Didn't Peter tell us the L42 made consistent hits on a Hun-head target at 1000yds during the trials?
"Compensation", plus those hammer forged barrels?
And they're still cheap as anything on old target rifles in the UK
it seems...
Word in the target community around here was they were good for 5000 rds plus with no appreciable decline in accuracy.

I can believe a good shot could hold a 12’’ group out to 900 yrd, as I can make hits at that distance with my made up L42, and I wouldn’t class myself as a good shot. For me any thing past 900 gets very messy. The scope really does feel the weakest point of the L42 system. I tend to use an L13A1 scope rather than the no32mkIII (sadly I don’t have an L1A1 scope).

I'm thrilled if I can make a 6 inch circle at 200 yards.
