That still had some the Raincoats. synthetic resin coated, Dismounted when I was in the army, 1st Sgts had them. They
had four buttons and knee length. The ponchos were better as you could keep your rifle under the poncho

I think I might choose to walk rather than ride on that wet sliver of a fender right above the track. Can't imagine they could hit the brakes in time in the event of a slip.

They wouldn't be grouping like that if enemy fire was a threat. Look at their attitude - waiting for orders away from direct threat, smoke break during movement halt.
Beats walking.
