Any L42 transit case owners? I need some help...
Hi all,
I am looking to have a L42 transit case made up as I’ve given up trying to find an original one.
If anyone that owns one would be able to get in touch to provide dimensions and detail pictures it would be much appreciated.
TIA

I think this has been posted here before. Do a search of the threads here. Sorry, don't have time to look right now. Plans are out there. One fellow posted a link to a shop that has the latches and corner hardware.

Great, thanks. I did have a look through the forum but didn’t turn anything up, I’ll have another go. Cheers

I'm away on the boat for a couple or three weeks, (over on Anglesey) if you don't get sorted by (say) End of November drop me a PM and I'll measure mine.

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Hi Mike
I think this might be the thread that Limpetmine was referring to.
https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=392&page=2
and in this thread some more info including the UK
company that did (still does?) the hardware.
https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=59038
I can help with other measurements from my own case once I dig it out of storage.
Hope it helps.
Good luck with the project and keep us posted!

Now I just need to decide if I’m going to tackle it myself or get someone to do it for me!

There's someone in the UK
already making nice repro transit chests for the 4T, so if you are going to buy, I'd look to see if they will do a L42 as well. At least they'll have a better idea of what's required rather than going to someone that doesn't.

I believe there's actually 2 people making 4T chests. One is basic and good value (cheap) and the other is VERY expensive, but of a very high and authentic quality, and identical to the originals, even down to the stickers, felt base etc.

If you want super high end version with every detail covered then look at Valmont Firearms. Very nice but a little heavy on the wallet.
The cheaper but still decent alternative is Edward's Shed, no website but they have a Facebook page.
