    WADING ASHORE IN NEW BRITAIN. U.S. Marines from a Coast Guard manned landing craft holding their rifles high to keep them dry, wade ashore at Cape Gloucester, New Britainicon. Coast Guard and Navy manned LSTs participated in the invasion. These Coast Guard combat photos were taken in late December. Released January 8, 1944." Cape Gloucester, New Britian. 8 January 1944
