    Ron Browns slings

    Hi Guys
I don't remember when I bought my sling but used a handful of times and had the rear short end replaced by Ron from splitting the smooth side that is. After the rising prices it discouraged me to load or even buy surplus ammo. Packrats still has ammo... but it's
    pricey at that. Oh.. well...

So my Brown sling has splits which I can live with but was wondering if any further damage will occur. His wife doesn't think it's an issue. According to her the logo is at least 8 years old. She said the logo they used was when DGR sold them. Thoughts ? Also I'd like to know if anyone knows where there is any surplus bullets are ?

Bullets or cartridges? Exact nomenclature is important so we're all on the same page? For surplus cartridges you can contact SG ammunition in Oklahoma: 100 Round Pack - 303 British 174 Grain Full Patch (FMJ) Type Ball Ammo Winchester WW2 Era Surplus Ammo - Sold AS-IS - For Collectors | SGAmmo.com

There was a large release of pulled M80 bullets 3-4 years ago that most retailers stocked up on. I bought a case of 2,000 bullets for $200.00. If you shop around you might find some retailers who still have some in stock.

Yes...but those are a spitzer boat tail. He wants the spitzer he says.

I shot more pulled IVI 7.62 bullets in M1icon than I could count but the price was right. For instance I bought a thousand from a guy living just beside Meaford Ontario, bet he worked in the ammo depot beside Borden.

I go those PP from grafs, loaded them all up, haven't shot much of them. Bought M72 BT years ago and never loaded them, sized and primed about 1K cases but the pandemic hit and I can't justify how much powder is for 8 pounds.

I went on course to Borden to get my Hazardous Materials Technician certification at the CF Fire Fighting school. Finally got to visit the infamous "Hug and Slug" in Barrie.

Well, I've got a Ron Brown sling from Dean's Gun Restorations. It doesn't have any splits, so I can't really help predict your sling's future. Sorry.

I wouldn't expect any either. If allowed to dry or be stored in sunlight it's hard to say what will happen. Normal care should prevent splits.
