BAOR Armourer's Wing Precis Vol. III circa 1946

This was posted on another forum: REME Technical Training School BAOR Armourers Wing Precis Volume III 1951 : R.E.M.E. Technical Training School - B.A.O.R : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

Some interesting variations on certain practices.

Apparently the No.3(T) rifles were not withdrawn before the end of WWII since they feature here in what is obviously a post-war manual.

Can be downloaded in various formats from the links on the lower right of the page.

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Cheers. Had a quick look for that yesterday morning, but didn't pop up for some reason. A search for "B.A.O.R." does show a five volume report on the test firing of Germanicon V2 rockets after WWII and probably one of the most detailed explanation of their technicalities and organization published in English.

Regarding rifle bedding, there seems to be an odd contradiction in the texts. p. 258 describes the No.1 Rifle and p.288 the No.4 Rifle.

Unless I am misreading this, page 258 relates to the No1 rifle, hence the need for the GAUGE, protrusion, stock bolt, whereas the 288 page relates to the No4. No muzzle bearing was a relaxation in standards that was applicable at the time, owing to wartime manufacturing pressures as I recall. But NEVER relaxed for the No4T

Thanks Peter. And hacksawing a split into solid foresight blocks was dropped later presumably.
