She lived for many years at Pier N in Charleston, SC. She was moored one pier over from the USS Sierra (AD18), aka Building 18 since she was aground on coffee grounds and cigarette butts. Both of them gave the taxpayers more value for their $$ than a lot of newer ships.

And I thought my brother's ship the USS Sperry AS12 was the only one parked on "land fill"! He was on that Tender for a couple of years before transfering to the AO22 USS Cimarron. BB
