Here's a pic of my late father taken on the island of Hollandia (New Guinea) in July '44. Dad was in the 503rd PIR.

Awesome photo and one to be preserved for many generations. If you took that photograph to a photography store, they could scan it and digitally enhance the image to make it looks really crisp and striking. I have done that with some of my photographs and it really makes a big difference. The local Wal-mart and stores like that don't really have the capability to do that work. It isn't cheap (~$30), but you do get a great digital image that will last forever. They can even colorize it if you want.
