Mine is No. 962 The only other mark next to the serial is, I believe, a makers mark. Letter "C" with an arrow through the C and the barb is above the C. Certainly not a Canadianicon Gov't mark. It came in a laminated wood box that looks like it would fit in a binocular type case. It does not fit in a normal binocular case. pmrb

Ah, isn't that the mark of ROF Cardiff? I ask because in Malaya etc, the intelligence people used to have captured VC and Chinese Brens etc etc this mark was often confused with the real Canadian arrow within a C - and they're not the same thing. Unless there's a Cardiff in Canadaicon! (just joking.....)

Have never managed to track down the marking unless Peters ROF Cardiff takes the cigar ?
The same marking can also be found on some of the FLS stowage boxes and also Vickers tripods (various numbers used)

    pic stolen from -http://www.vickersgun.com/gallery.htm

Can anyone post a pic of ROF Cardiff mark to compare ?

    I have a part of a Bren MK1
    It has the marks :

    SIGHT LENSATIC MK1
    LONDON OPTICAL COMPANY
    SGT. F.L.BREN. .303 IN 1939
    PL 2559

    Is it valuable ?

    Dan
