    Ammo find

A coworker gave me a box of ammunition. I think its Jap 7.7, but I'm not sure.

Yes it sure looks like 7.7 on stripper clips. Hard to find with the clips for sure. I'm not sure about the box being original for the ammunition.

I have one clip of 7.7 on the stripper like that. I'd say it's 7.7 also. Right down to the color of the sealing ring on the case mouth.

Would sure like that for my collection.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

    checking 303 cartridges

Watch out for any with the short neck as they may be experimental for the Lewis machine gun at the end of WW1Attachment 68572

I doubt I'll find them though. I don't really have much that's a mystery. Just wondering about the headstamps you show. I might have one...

The label of the box is interesting, I ran the image through my smart phone's word recognition translator and some of the symbols were recognized as the following in English:

    Goods
    Water
    Extraction
    Spring
"first whether the stone, is a spring input"
    Spring water

I don't speak Japaneseicon but I wonder if the box originally held a bottle of spring water, or is basically describing a product like Sake (rice wine)

The overall complete label translates as gibberish on my phone, but picking the few words out, assuming they are correct, doesn't suggest an ammunition container.

This is the first time I have tried Japanese to English, but the same program has been quite good with Russianicon to English.

It might be an interesting project to find some to translate the label properly.
