A thick peened pommel, complete with tag? Very nice.

The pic shows a sunburst rivet on the tang? At least that's what I thought it was called. If not then what would the peened tang be? I believe screwed on but otherwise how is it secured?

I think its screwed on, then the tip of the tang peened to hold it on?
I meant no cross pin through the pommel, as in later thinner pommels..

That's right, that's what I was talking about. Otherwise it would be thin pommel pinned. That eliminated the threading of the pommel.

This is a picture of the early heavy spanner pommel that was screwed on. It didn't prove strong enough, and they went to the peened tang. Later they went to a thinner pommel that was pinned from side to side as well as peened.

This is the late thin pommel which was peened as well as pinned.

Is the early screwed on pommel, or peened tang pommel scarcer than the other?
