    Question about stocks

I was wondering. I know it is unlikely, but is it possible my late Inland could have had a Saginaw stock? The stock is mint like the rest of the gun, and was probably put on by Underwood during the inspection/rebuild. I do wonder, however, if when Saginaw ceased production in 1944, could they have shipped off the excess stocks to Inland who was still producing? I do think it is likely that they went into spare parts inventory, then to Underwood. I do wonder, though, why a late war Inland as pristine as this one would need stock replaced in 1945 or so.

Your stock has a Saginaw acceptance stamp on it, so I believe it was original to a Saginaw carbine. It's anybody's guess as to how it ended up on your Inland - possibly the PO swapped it from one of his other carbines? - Bob

Who knows! I really don't care at this point. A gorgeous carbine in a gorgeous stock! Im even going to put some moleskin on the snap on the stock pouch so it doesn't mare the surface.
