    Question "1895" Marked Swedish Carbine

One of those deals where I done threw money at a milsurp before doing research. It's on layaway currently, but it appears to be an 1894 model carbine Mauser-built variant. No bayonet lug, barrel extension for US early 1960's importation purposes, side sling but bottom rear attach point plugged, so likely changed configuration in service. Numbers match, but some look a little dodgy, i.e. several places where the "5" looks it's actually an inverted "2".

Stock has short finger grooves. It also has a few dramas! Nose cap is loose, there's a longish sliver missing just behing the nose cap and there's a split behind the action tang.

That's all the detail I recall.

Question is, where to find a good photo reference, etc? The MKLicon's carbine is rather newer. Any other suggestions? Olsen's not much help....

The Dutchman's " House of Karlina " has excellent m/94 and m/94/14 carbine photos . See the link :

A lot of rebuilding occurred on Swedishicon mausers , so renumbered or over stamped to match is common . You need to post photos once you get it . The Mauser numbers have different font than the Swedish numbers & that sound like what you are seeing in the numbers 2 or 5 . Check original parts for Mauser crowns , which have a sagging base line . Swedish crowns have a straight base line & the HVA crowns are tilted on a 45 degree angle . The patch on the bottom of the butt stock means it was once a fortress carbine & has been updated to the side mounted sling . Common to see cracks at the rear tang on many different Mausers . A loose nosecap ?????? Meaning loss of wood ?

    Thanks for the link.

You seem correct about the varying "5" fonts. The bolt, etc. of Dutchman's third example looks different than much of the rest of the carbine.

It may be a bit before I get this carbine home, too many things going on vying for funds! And most all of my trigger pulling is with long range handguns of late. Occupies a lot of attention and time. Thinking of trying a "Red 9" Mauser broomhandle for giggles, though. Trigger's not the best, and no windage correction, but the sight settings are just right, in theory!
