    P14 Coin Headspace Gauge

Just a quick question, Can a coin style headspace gauge be used to check headspace on a P14? I have the Okie Field gauge and it works fine for my Enfields but I get inconsistent readings in my two P14s.

P14 and 1917,s gauge a little weird, as it was told to me , its on felt resestance of the gage..even if it closes on the tool.
should be done with cocking assembly removed as well,.

    Chuck,
I agree it is a weird process to try an get consistent readings. I found if I stand the rifle vertically on my bench with muzzle pointed at ceiling and manipulate the bolt handle from the side, I can get the coin gauge to stay in the right "spot" to get a measurment. So far I'm satisfied that most of my readings pass on the gauge. The ones that don't the gauge slips off the bolt face.
I will probably just go get a Forster and make my life easier. Like guns, one can never have enough tools. Thanks for the imput.
