    ANZAC Day

To all our Antipodean friends, we always raise the flag this time of year as a mark of respect..

My 1917 NZicon issued SMLE will be getting it's annual outing this week...

    ANZAC Day 2022

A day to remember all our service personnel past present and future for their selfless devotion to duty. This hangs in our lounge area as a small dedication to my RAAF LAC dad who deployed O/seas in WWII and worked on that most iconic aircraft as an engine fitter. RIP dad.

The commemorations here were a little more low key than normal because of Covid but still well attended. As usual, an early morning salute was fired from the lookout above our small town by the 25 Pounder from the local RSA. We remembered family who served in WW1 and WW2. One killed at Gallipoli during the assault on Chunuk Bair in 1915, my father-in-law in Italyicon, and my father in the Solomons and Egypt during WW2.
