Removal of safety, Model of 1917 Enfield

I am in the process of disassembling a 1917 Remington action and I am having trouble finding any information on how to remove the safety. I removed the one screw and the safety lock, however, I can't figure out how to get the safety lever of the bolt lock out.

I can't seem to find anything on the internet about it either. Everything I find about disassembling, they never disassemble the safety, or if they do, they don't show how or cover it.

That should read "safety lever or the bolt lock out".

If I remember you take the back part off the safety the turn the safety around counter-clockwise and pull out the safety lever. To reassemble you push the plunger in with a small screwdriver the grab the plunger with pliers where it stick out, then reinstall the lever the same way you took it out then turn it back clockwise about half way.

I should have told you the stock has to be removed first.

No one tells you how to disassemble it because it is a royal pain to get it back in. No need to take it off unless it is broken or you are switching manufacturers.

Yooper did cover it pretty well if you wish to make the attempt.

I wanted to remove the safety because I am trying to refinish this rifle after I have it rebarrelled. So I wanted to disassemble the entire unit for a complete job.

I tried what you suggested with no luck. As I rotate the lever counterclockwise, there is on point when it is about the 12:00 position that I can get it to move out about 1/32" or maybe a little more. But it won't move any further and I lightly wedged a screwdriver tip in the gap to apply a little pressure, but that didn't help. I didn't want to damage it so I didn't apply much pressure.

It doesn't take much effort to get out, bare hands should work fine. It's getting it back in that is the problem. Just keep pulling while rotating back and forth.
