    Elevation knob cover

Can anyone please tell me if a knurled elevation sight cover, as opposed to checkered, is correct for a 479503 L/L Garandicon, barrel date of 11-41? Other than that, the gun is very nice and totally correct. Thanks

more information on the early elevation knobs

There is difference between the early Springfield and Winchester elevation knobs (or as collectors call them caps held on the the small screw)

photos show Springfield on the left side and Winchester on the right side.

note the numbers on the drumsAttachment 117227Attachment 117228 are different from the two manufactures also the arrows are different two but you can not always depend on the arrows for identification

Some Winchester caps have the small "BATTLE" too

    Knobs

I believe SA was using both around that time, using up the checkers and working in the knurled. For some reason, LL rifles seem to keep the old style longer. Maybe SA used them to get rid of the old style?
