Barrel code on 513T

Hello all, this is my first post on the .22 forum. I recently purchased a 513T. It is parkerized and stamped US Property on the receiver and barrel. The stock has a FJA in a box on the left side and a boxed SPG on the left as well. My question is about the barrel code. It is stamped O with what looks to be a Y after that. My chart says July 1930. Could this be correct for a WWII trainer ? It would seem alittle early to me. The serial number on the underside of the barrel is #25525. Anyone have a number close to this ? and what is your barrel code date to ?

Yes the Rem 513T was a WW11 trainer. "O" would be too early. Are you sure that "O" isn't a "K"? That would be 1941. Acorrding to Batha in his US Martial .22RF book delivers started in 1941 and ending in 1944. For a total of 69,952 rifles.
Therefore all rifles should carry a barrel code of K-L-MM-NN. Let us know when you look again.
My 513-T is about 3900 less than yours.

I took the barrel off and that is whats stamped there. An O followed by a Y or V. I will send you a picture later tonight. Derrick

When you hold the rifle with the muzzel pointing to you left that would be the left side of the gun. The left side of Remington rifles on the barrel at the action is the Mfg code date stampings.
Look at the first picture to understand what I am saying. The first letter shown "O" is the month in this case July. Remington used the letters BLACKPOWDERX as these 12 letters do not repeat themselves for the twelve months of the year. As I see it the "O" you are using is not the year but the month.
Try as hard as I can I can not make out what follows the "O" stamping. Try using a magnifier of some sort to figure out the next letters. Should be a "K" for 1941 "L" for 1942 "MM" for 1943 and "NN" for 1944. The complete chart will be found on the Remington collector site or in the back of a Blue Book on gun value.
Keeping in mind that maybe three letters maybe stamped and the last letter making no sense in the dating codes. That last letter is just some sort of proof stamping code.
On the right side of the barrel those are proof stamping or just other codes but not date coding stamps. I hope this is of helps to understanding Remington's date codes.

After checking the marks with a magnifier and using different lighting I beleive that it is a K for 1941. Thanks MKIII for your time and if you are keeping records of serial numbers again mine is #25525.
