H&R .22 by Long Branch

Just saw a H&R .22 model 450 built by Long Branch? First one I have ever seen and appears to be well made with quality target sights. Sure would like to know more about this gun.

I must admit I was a little shocked to see Long Branch Ontario stamped on the reciever.

The model stamp was poorly done the 45 was evident but the 0 wasn't, was told it is a model 450.

Are these fairly common? This gun had a serial number in the 500 range.

It was a post-war target rifle ( heard it was designed by Eugene Reising of Model 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 fame ) . Made from '48 ish to '50 ish as standard and offered to around '61 ish as special order with it's stable-mate , the 451. It has a good rep , but H&R did not sell enough of them ( less than 5,000 450/451s ) so they went on to thier cheeper .22s .

Thanks for the information emmagee1917, I wonder how many Long Branch built as I was told H&R also made them in the USA. Do you think the Long Branch would be more valuable? This gun is in very nice condition, doesn't appear to have been abused.

The post above sums up what little I know of them. If all is well with it , it should shoot right up with the Mossberg 44 / Winchester 75 / Remington 513 / Stevens 416 type rifles from the same era . Prices and other info I just can't help with.
