Revolvers Used by Imperial Germany (circa 1915)

Hello

I read several accounts of mid-level German officers who were equipped with revolvers in World War I.

I am used the P08 (Luger) and other semiautomatics, but am not familair with revolvers.

Does anyone have any information?

Aside from Reichsrevolvers and rivate purchase stuff - not sure. I know Hermann Goering was famously fond of his S&W revolver, a 1930's vintage S&W M&P, presumably in .38 SPL.

Some older WW1 officers (who had to purchase their own weapon) would almost certainly have still had their Reichsrevolver. There was still some resisitance to self-loading pistols amongst the older generation. I have the copy of a letter written by Georg Luger on the subject.

As Claven and villiers said, normally the Reichsrevolver ( Armee Revolver 79 and Armee Revolver 89)was the german`s gun, but my grandpa ( mothers side) was a artillery lieutenant and he told me that they also used the french Lefaucheux-revolver and the austrian Rast&Gasser M1898 in 8mmx27.
