Quick way to find out - see if the M5 bayonet stud fits into the single slot. If the M5 fits there is an excellent chance it is fake
Good point. I never thought of that, but I just think it looks TOO good. I have a loose Winchester here and the Springfield that's in my rifle and they are both...showing wear shall we say?

I bought a pack of 5 , years ago , that are susposed to be the real deal. They were packed in very old , dried cosmoline or grease and wrapped in that old funky corn-husk type paper. They are and look to be new. All five have the inner base polished up. Yours could be a refinished original , a different mfg. , or a fake. I hear the fakes will allow a rifle grenade launcher stud to go in them whereas the originals never would. My examples pass that test easily , the hole is much too small. To help check , the hammer spring guide easily fits , the front sight screw barly does go in them.
