    Need Mauser Assistance

Has anyone ever come across a Mauser (I believe Model 1914) that appears to have been presented to a participant in the 1934 Olympics. Any information would be greatly appreciated. squarepairAttachment 58510Attachment 58509

I'll try to get some more pics. It's not actually in my possession, but a close friend that is trying to get some history on it. Thanks for taking a look. squarepair

I believe it appears to be awarded for most likely some sort of Olympic trial or training session. SS Fuhrer Doring and Goring had a habit of giving guns away for good deeds. From what I can find it appears that SS Fuhrer Doring was the "Bird Colonel" of the SS from 1934 to 1936.

I think the Olympics were in 1936.

I think that must be for first place.
Some information on perhaps the second place trophy here. Ski-Championships Berchtesgaden 1934

I had the impression that this pistol was awarded to the team leader for his performance as the leader. Thoughts?

That's a good question Paul. I have no idea. I've been trying to find any information about Doring actually presenting items to athletics. I'm really at a dead end.

There were only 3 Germanicon metalists in the 1934 Alpine ski championships one male two female I would say the list of possiable recipents is small indeed. My bet is on Franz Pfnür - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . That is a very interesting piece thank you for sharing.
Perhaps the folks at the NRA Museums: could help.
