Hi, I am a carbine guy but I just received a couple of CMP Garands that I am putting away for my sons. They are both service grade from Springfield Armory. One of the guns has a round metal object screwed into the stock on the left side below the receiver area. It is about 2 inches in diameter. The best way I can describe it is that it looks kind of like a cereal bowl with a quarter inch lip around the top of the bowl. It is graduated with the numbers 0 thru 60 on the lip on twice across the bowl from each other. This may be the worst description ever but it is the closest I can get. I would like to know what it is and what it does to the collectibility of the gun. Thanks!Information
