    Pumpkin a la victim

I had to take the day out of school to take my wife to an outpatient procedure. Once she was home in bed, I dropped off her prescriptions and took my 1861 Springfield and a pumpkin to the range. 15 rounds of .577/490gr Minie balls at 50 yards over ~60gr 3X powder; half benched and half standing. About 6-7 hits once I remembered the sight picture. Something nasty about that meaty 'thwock' of an ounce of lead hitting a soft target. I went with the rifle musket over buck and ball as I wanted to be able to hit a 9" square target.

Hickok45 on YouTube tried out a watermelon with a .44 magnum and black talons at about five yards. It exploded all over him!

    Shot is at 14:21...

I miss reactive targets. Darn cities.

Yes, because they're a different consistency. You can do the same with a punkin, mostly, but you have to inject water in until it's full. Then a high velocity projectile will devastate it. You could also put a bag of FFF black inside...
