    VE DAY 75 YEARS LATER

I let this anniversary slip up o me this year until I saw a news story.
I was lucky enough to know a few WWII vets, wish I had known more and the ones I did know I wish I had known better.
Thanks to all who participated at any level for 75 year of relative peace and stability.
And to those I did not know I wish I had. To those I did I miss you.

unfortunately that era is LONG gone. LONG GONE. That fact makes the interviews done for band of brothers and pacific even more important for this age of idiocy. makes "they shall not grow old" even more pivotal.

nowadays some of todays "greatest" movers and shakers in politics and business were rich shites that dodged the draft for NAM,,, while hundreds of thousands of 14-17 year olds LIED to get into the military just so that they could do what needed to be done. That's the irony few think about.

Once upon a time a 14 year old would lie to get into the service, fully expecting to get killed off within a year of doing so, but yet not regretting doing so when they are 70 year old grandfathers bouncing grand kids on their knees. Yet the biggest names in business and politics happily dodged the draft, and spit on servicemen who didn't have the ability, or desire to dodge the jungle draft.

Well I did my bit for VE Day. Our local village bus shelter needed and update, so a tin of IR paint later, and a kind old lady who knitted the poppies did the trick.............I did'nt expect them to look like three midgets, they are supposed to be sitting down next to each other lol....................................NEVER get Bored!!

A bunch of my Canadianicon uncles served from Normandy to Holland and paid the price in the years after the war. Dad was USN and was sunk 3 times till he got to fly a desk, that's where he met my Mom.
She worked on Air Cobra's for Russiaicon and Harvard's and Anson's for the Commonwealth. My Brother was USN during Vietnam. Because of them I grew up in a safe world along with my wife and children.

Song Bird Johnny. Rumor has it during his visit to Hanoi he was quite the soprano and let us not forget Johnny Swift Boat Kerry who came home after his third purple heart (a scratch on the behind running back to his boat and a cut finger being two) and sung to congress that we were being naughty by chasing VC into places we weren't suppose to go. OR the rapist from Arkansas who went to English on a Rhodes Scholorship (sp?)where he didn't inhale. Those Movers and shakers?
