    Real Bullet Holes?

I picked up this aluminium utensil in a job lot of WW2 Italianicon and Germanicon mess tin lids. I got it off eBay from a UKicon seller who said that it came from a UK dealer/trader who obtained them from Eastern Europe. The utensil looks as if it's had a handle riveted to it that is now missing.

I wondered if people here think that the "additional holes" actually look like real bullet holes, please, or holes from something else? The seller thought that the holes may be "bullet holes" which they do look like but then I wondered if they are too "uniform" in size and shape to actually be "real bullet holes"?

I'm not entirely sure what the purpose was for this utensil but any suggestions other than colander would be welcome, please.

    Many thanks for any replies.

And a drum from a Thompson would make it even look better.

Ha! Ha! That would change them from colanders to cheese graters!
