    Long branch Rifle Magazine markings

On my various LB rifles and spares, I count 23 magazines. Of that, I observe the following marks:

    LB 14/23
    C ^ 3/23
    LB and C^ 6/23

    Further checks show:

    1941 c^ Lb
    1949 C^
    1944 tp sniper c^
    1945 90L sniper c^ LB
    1945 90L sniper c^ LB
    1945 90L sniper LB
    1945 90L sniper LB

Is anyone aware of patterns and policies for these? aka dual markings for early rifles or a pattern for LB snipers?Attachment 98572

Long Branch mags were sent with the rifle and no extra mags were issued. Same as all other Lee-Enfields. I'd have to look at mine to see if it's even stamped.
Long Branch No. 4's were sent all over creation too. New Zealandicon, The Brits, etc, etc. all used 'em. Any stamping policies would be those of the end user.
    Spelling and Grammar count!

    Oh, I get it, "14/23" means "14 of 23"

So you are trying to correlate the "C^" (government ownership marking) with the "LB" (manufacturers marking)?

I don't think it matters or means anything at all, except possibly that 20 of your 23 magazine bodies were manufactured by Long Branch, 3 were possibly outside contractors - or just missed the "LB" marking.

I would think that would be much more interesting to look for the "CA" (Canadianicon Arsenals Limited) marking in concert with either of the 2 other markings - as (in theory) it replaced both of the previously mentioned markings in 1947.

Are you just looking at spine markings? what about the platform?

You should be able to find some "Circled B", "UCF" and cursive "S" (not squared "S"avage) in addition to the "LB" marked mags.
