Well, My book shows it as Colt made in 1917. Is that what you're asking?
    Regards, Jim

I don't have a percentage, but by far most of the pistols from Colt were shipped to Springfield Armory. I have never seen why this was done, but apparently Ordnance thought it best done that way.
Starting in WWI a large percentage of the pistols were shipped directly to the ports where the pistols would then be sent to Franceicon.
The shipment ending with serial number 289300 was the last of the Model 1911 Colts to be shipped in numerical order. It just became a pain in the a$$ to try and keep the pistols in numerical order for shipment, and with the rush of WWI shipments, this was discontinued. You have to get a Colt letter ($100) to get the exact shipping date.
