    Norwegian K98 issue

My Norwegianicon K98icon came with no front sight blade. I installed a standard German front sight blade. Anybody know in the USAicon or Europe where I can buy one? Thanks guys.

    Surely no problem???

Sorry, I don't understand the question.

The rifle is a K98 (K98kicon, I presume). Sight blade missing, so you installed a "standard German front sight blade", which would be for a K98k. So what's the problem? All German-made Mausers from my M1871 to the Israeli use the same front blades (apart from some carbine types with integrated "ears", which may cause a problem). As far as I know, there is no specific "Norwegianicon Mauser" front blade. Please enlighten me if I have misunderstood something.

The Norwegianicon Mauser frontsight blade is a broader one, like you find it on the Swissicon rifles, not the "Dachkorn" like the german variant.

I've been on the road. Sorry about not respomding sooner. Yes, indeed, the Norwegians did install a new front sight of there own design. I am in need of a real Norwegianicon front sight blade. Anybody out there have a lead? Thanks.

HI i recently purchased a Norwegianicon k98, 30 06 caliber with blond timber in great condition, it dose not have the Norwegian, issued front sight post, i have fired this rifle out to 300 yards and it is extremely accurate, the Norwegians modified the rear sight from a v to a u notch which i find a much better sight picture. I am also on the look out for a norwegian front sight post i am making inquires over here and if i come across any i will let you know, i have tried to post pictures of my Norwegian k98 but i failed to upload them to this site.

thank you for the kind, comments Hooked on History, their was a small number of Norwegianicon captured k98 Mauser's that came on the European market about 2 years ago they were in next to mint condition, and they all had blond timber. i have seen a couple of them and none of them had the Norwegian front sight blade, but this dose not affect accuracy as my Norwegian Mauser which has a Germanicon front sight post is very accurate, supplies of parts for these Mauser's and the rifles themselves have now become very very scarce.

I had not known they had a different front sight. I will have to look at mine to see. Did any other non original parts get subbed when these were rebarreled to 30-06 or 7.62?
