    New Acquisition. Winchester

Hi all. Took my recently acquired Model of 1917 out to the range last weekend. Shot real nice. The barrel, bolt and receiver all match with Winchester markings and Nov. 1918 dates (per C. S. Ferris' book which is outstanding btw). Several parts such as rear sight ladder (R), the stock (E) have been replaced at arsenal. Eddystone's E is stamped on the fore end, but no arsenal rebuild stamp on the side. No original eagle inspector's stamps around the trigger guard either. Anyhow, here are some pics. How do you like her? Oh yea, do you like the little bullet / pencil give aways from back in the day?

Winchester blued their rifles in a superb blue. Your rifle has been parkerized and re-built. Winchesters have a nice reputation for accuracy, nice find.

Nice rifle, I hope to be able to take mine to the range soon. I want to get the new stock for it first.

I suspect your forward upper fore end is on backwards. That aside, it looks great! What ammo were you shooting, at what distance and what kind of groups were you getting?
