    GEW 98 Danzig 1917

I picked this up the day I got the Italianicon Brescia. It's the last "key" rifle I've been searching for. Not saying I have them all but this one made my day for sure. All numbers match with the exception of the rear sight. Bore is excellent. The rear sight on this is a piece of mechanical art. Stock cartouches are present but only a few are clear. Just goes to show that you might find something nice at a small show. Came with the muzzle cover but the sling is a reproduction.

Very nice, the slings are around and you'll find one eventually. Now for a butcher or sawback bayonet...

I have three different bayonets already, quillback, butcher and sawback. Since it's so late, the quillback probably not appropriate. Have an ersatz also that I believe will fit.

It is "S" stamped. Bore is one of the nicest looking I've seen on a milsurp. Crisp right to the muzzle.

Here are some photos with the bayonet. Went with the butcher.

Very, very nice. Another rifle I've always wanted. I suppose I should have bought one when lots were still around in shooting condition...about 40 years ago...
    Regards, Jim
