Early US Army M1911 manufactured in April, 1912

This pistol (S/N 2134) was in the 9th shipment of M1911 pistols from Colt. The shipment included 150 pistols, and was shipped to the Commanding Officer, Springfield Armory on April 16, 1912.

This pistol has all correct parts except the later (Type III) magazine release. The discolored portions on the rear of the frame and around the grips are smudges on the high polish finish that I just couldn't quite remove.

I have wanted to photograph and share this pistol since I found it... When I get better lighting, I will probably take better pictures of it without so much glare.

    I hope you enjoy!

    The later magazine release...

Rob....That is a Beautiful Pistol, with the fire blue still showing on the small parts. Where did you find this one?

It was at a local auction. I LOVE the early fire blue pistols... this is my first one.

    Congradulations

I'm glad a collector got it rather than someone that would mess it up by "modernizing" it
